Desperate need: Baby- Formula!
After the earth- quake a lot of moms stopped producing milk for their babies, and we have had a lot of them coming to our clinic desperate for baby formula. We are now almost completely out of our formula and hope you can help us! We also need baby bottles (the re-usable ones!) for them to feed their babies. Please spread the word and send us an e-mail at relief@ywamhaiti.org if you can help!
Thank you for your help and prayers!

Dear all,
As Infant and Young Child Feeding Focal Point for the Nutrition Cluster Haiti (Ministry of Health, UNICEF and other partners working in nutrition); I would like to advice AGAINST the donation of infant formula. The distribution of this item will increase the prevalence of diarrhoea and mortality. The Cluster has training available to help mothers overcome their breastfeeding difficulties so they can keep providing their children this safe and perfectly adapted food, as well as ready to use infant formula for those infants without a mother. PLEASE DO NOT DONATE INFANT FORMULA TO HAITI!
In Addition to the previous comment: PLEASE DO NOT DONATE BABY BOTTLES: baby bottles and teats in an emergency are difficult to clean due to lack of water, fuel, soap and time of the caretaker and are therefore an important source of infection. The use of baby bottles and teats will result in an increase in diarrhoea.
For children who cannot breastfeed, such as orphans, we recommend the use of cups to feed the baby, which is much more easier to clean!
Thank you to help us keep the children in Haiti healthy!
